Jean Montero Olympiacos Jersey #8
Jean Montero arrives in Piraeus wearing No. 8! For the 2026–27 season, the Dominican point guard is leaving Valencia to join Olympiacos for a new chapter in the EuroLeague. And given what he showed last season, his arrival is certainly making waves. At just 23 years old, Montero is joining one of the most ambitious rosters in Europe in a role that promises to be intriguing.
Above all, Montero arrives with an impressive resume. In 2025–26, he averaged 14.4 points, 3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in the EuroLeague with Valencia. He was also named to the competition’s All-Star Five and selected as Rising Star, while in Spain he won the title with Valencia and was named MVP of the Liga Endesa Finals. Not exactly the profile of a player who’s arriving in Piraeus to take it easy and get a feel for the European level.
His arrival at Olympiacos therefore marks a significant step up. The Greek club has signed him to a three-season contract and is counting on his talent with the ball to strengthen its backcourt. Montero has the kind of skill set that can quickly break down a defense: he accelerates, changes pace, creates opportunities for his teammates, and doesn’t hesitate to take charge when he sees an opening. His time at Valencia clearly demonstrated just how much he can contribute when given the freedom to play his game.
And the No. 8 is now his. In fact, Olympiacos introduced him with that number as soon as his arrival was announced. It’s a new identity for Montero, but his playing style remains the same—highly focused on creativity and attack.
The circumstances for the 2026–27 season are, of course, unique. Montero is joining the reigning European champion and is coming into a team accustomed to the big games of the EuroLeague. In particular, he’ll be playing alongside players like Evan Fournier and Sasha Vezenkov, with the goal of continuing to be a major force on the European stage.
What makes his jersey interesting is precisely this change of teams. After making a huge impact in Valencia and helping lead the Spanish club to the Final Four, Montero is now donning the red and white colors of Olympiacos. He’s not just changing jerseys—he’s entering a new phase of his career, with higher expectations surrounding him.
On the court, he’s a player who loves to have the ball in his hands. Montero can run the offense, drive past his defender, find a pass in the tiniest of spaces, or score his own points. His energy and ability to play at different paces make him a particularly attractive prospect for a team that already has plenty of offensive weapons.
His arrival in Piraeus is also the logical next step in a fairly rapid rise. After stints with Gran Canaria, Andorra, and then Valencia, the Dominican player has gradually established himself in European basketball. With Valencia, he took another step forward in 2025–26, eventually becoming one of the standout players of the EuroLeague season. Olympiacos is now offering him a new stage on which to continue this progression.
And his early days with the Reds are already giving us a glimpse of who he is. In September, during preseason and the Greek Super Cup, Montero quickly found his footing with several impressive offensive performances. His first EuroLeague games with Olympiacos also highlighted his effectiveness with the ball in hand, notably scoring 15 points and dishing out 7 assists against Zalgiris.
Montero’s jersey at Olympiacos belongs to a player who arrives in Piraeus with quite a bit of European experience under his belt, despite his young age. The red and white of Olympiacos, the name Montero, and the number 8 on his back: a combination that marks the start of a new adventure for the Dominican point guard.
For Montero fans, this season is definitely one to watch closely. After playing for Valencia for two seasons, he is now getting his first taste of life at Olympiacos—a club where every EuroLeague game counts. His explosive style and ability to create plays should quickly make No. 8 one of the players to watch in the Greek team’s rotation.
The Olympiacos jersey ultimately symbolizes this fresh start. He’s still a young player, but he arrives with a standout season under his belt, a Spanish title in his pocket, and genuine recognition on the European stage. Now it’s time for Piraeus, the big EuroLeague nights, and a new adventure with the Reds.
Jean Montero. No. 8. Olympiacos. EuroLeague 2026–27. After Valencia, the Dominican changes scenery and switches to red and white. The rest of the story begins in Piraeus.
